Joan Charlotte Matelli is a 3L at Northeastern University School of Law. A Massachusetts native, Joan earned a masters in journalism from Boston University, and a B.A. in English from Smith College. Before law school, Joan worked in digital journalism at the Boston Globe and Advance Digital, and taught in the bilingual Spanish program of Boston Public Schools. Joan’s parents and grandparents immigrated from Italy in the 1950s; growing up in a bilingual immigrant community fueled her interest in language access and racial equity
