Karina Sumano has a B.A. in Women’s & Gender Studies from Sonoma State University and a dual Master’s in Gender & Cultural Studies/Master’s in Public Policy from Simmons University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Karina interned at the International Rescue Committee, where she assisted clients in applying for citizenship and asylee status. During graduate school, Karina saw the importance of using an intersectional lens to theorize public policy-based solutions that address race, gender, and class disparities. With her experience as a student administrative assistant in her previous role, Karina realized her talent for organization, enthusiasm for collaboration, and teamwork. Her passion for social change drives her motivation for policy advocacy and social justice.
