After serving as an AmeriCorps Legal Advocate in MLRI’s Economic Justice and Family Law units for 1 year, Mariel Fulghum now serves as a Economic Justice Fellow. Prior to working at MLRI, Mariel interned at Northeast Legal Aid in Lynn, MA, and at the Court Service Center at the Massachusetts Trial Court in Lawrence, MA. In these positions, she gained experience in public interest law and developed her passion for increasing equity in the legal system through direct client advocacy. She is particularly interested in working to minimize financial and linguistic barriers to accessing justice. Mariel grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Dartmouth College in June 2025 with a BA in History and Economics and a minor in Spanish.
