Everyone in Massachusetts should have affordable, quality, and equitable health care.

MLRI works to improve coverage and access to affordable health care for the 2.4 million state residents on the health benefits programs administered by the MassHealth agency and the Massachusetts Health Connector.

Our health care advocacy focuses on:

Eliminating administrative barriers that discourage or deny eligible individuals from securing their state subsidized health coverage.
Improving the experience of individuals transitioning between different state programs by addressing gaps in coverage.
Promoting equitable access to affordable health coverage by addressing racial disparities in health and language access issues and tackling policies with disparate impacts on underserved or disenfranchised communities.
Expanding access to affordable quality health care for all, including immigrants, postpartum and pregnant people, children, older adults, and people with disabilities.
Fighting policies at both the state and federal level that will restrict access to coverage and care.
Reducing justice-involved individuals’ barriers to accessing health care, led by the communities that are most directly impacted.
Partnering on advocacy initiatives with community-based organizations, legal aid and health care advocates, and state-wide coalitions to improve MassHealth and Health Connector members’ experience and advance equal and expanded access to needed health care benefits.
